The Future of Personalized Immunotherapy

What are Immune Cells?

Immune cells are specialized cells that protect the human body by resisting invading pathogens and viruses, as well as tumor (cancer) cells that develop internally. A decline in immune cell function can lead to various infectious diseases and cancer. Conversely, a malfunction in immune cell activity can result in autoimmune diseases, such as allergies, atopy, and rheumatism.

Types of Immune Cells

Innate Immunity

Natural, non-specific immunity present from birth.

(Example: The reflex of tearing up to flush out dust from the eyes.)

Adaptive(Acquired) Immunity

Immunity developed through learning and memory upon exposure to specific pathogens. Characterized by a specific memory response. (Example: Flu vaccination.)
